Coach Davide Ancelotti is reportedly actively applying for the head coach position at Strasbourg following Liam Rosenior's departure to manage Chelsea.
After Enzo Maresca left Chelsea in early January, the London club quickly appointed Strasbourg's coach, Liam Rosenior. Consequently, the head coach role at Strasbourg has attracted interest from many managers, including Davide Ancelotti.
According to L’Equipe, Strasbourg received numerous applications after Rosenior's exit, including one from Davide Ancelotti. The Italian tactician previously assisted his father Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Napoli, and Everton, and also had a brief stint managing Botafogo before being dismissed in December 2025.
Ancelotti was also a candidate for the head coach role at Reims in 2024, partly due to his proficiency in English, Italian, French, and Spanish. However, limited experience as a head coach prevented him from being chosen by Strasbourg. Ultimately, the club's management decided to trust Gary O’Neil, the former Wolves coach.
A highlight in Davide Ancelotti's career was becoming the head coach of Botafogo in July 2025. This decision marked a significant milestone for Davide, who had spent many years as an assistant to his father at several top European clubs. After a successful 2024 season, Botafogo hoped his arrival would initiate a new development phase for the club.
However, Davide Ancelotti’s tenure at Botafogo did not meet expectations. The team performed inconsistently, repeatedly disappointing in both domestic competitions and regional tournaments. Botafogo failed to defend their national championship and exited early from the Copa Libertadores, falling short of their set goals. Ultimately, the 36-year-old coach was dismissed after only 5 months in charge.
Meanwhile, Carlo Ancelotti is fully focused on the Brazil national team as they prepare for the 2026 World Cup. The coach, born in 1959, still has about 5 months to prepare before officially starting the campaign to secure the Selecao’s sixth World Cup trophy.
