Vietnam National Team calls up 28 players to prepare for the Asian Cup finals

Coach Mai Đức Chung and the Vietnam women's national team commence their initial gathering to get ready for the 2026 Women's Asian Cup.

To get ready for the 2026 AFC Women's Asian Cup finals, which will be held in Australia starting March 1, 2026, the Vietnam women's team will officially assemble for their first training session of 2026 beginning January 14.

In this early 2026 training camp, head coach Mai Đức Chung has summoned 28 players for training at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center. Additionally, the coaching staff will continue to select and develop promising young athletes. Specifically, some young players currently participating in the National U19 Women's Football Championship will be monitored and assessed during the competition and may be called up to the national team after the tournament concludes (February 7).

During this crucial preparation phase, the Vietnam women's team will have a training camp in China from February 7 to February 14, 2026, aiming to enhance match experience, accumulate skills, and refine their playing style to achieve the best performance on the continental stage.

Previously, the draw for the 2026 AFC Women's Asian Cup finals was held at Sydney Town Hall, Australia, on the afternoon of July 29, 2025. The draw placed the Vietnam women's team in Group C alongside Japan, India, and Chinese Taipei. According to the competition format, the top two teams from each group and the two best third-placed teams will advance to the quarterfinals.

Vietnam women's team will face India in their opening match on March 4, 2026. The next two matches against Chinese Taipei and Japan will take place on March 7 and March 10, respectively. Coach Mai Đức Chung’s squad will play all three matches at Perth Rectangular Stadium.
