A player with Vietnamese roots has featured 15 times for a European national side, attracting interest from fans back home.
According to data from Transfermarkt, the Liechtenstein national team currently includes a player of Vietnamese origin named Kenny Kindle. This information quickly caught the attention of Vietnamese football enthusiasts, since few players with Vietnamese blood have regularly played at the European national team level.
Kenny Kindle is 23 years old this year and plays as a left winger. Despite his young age, he has already worn the Liechtenstein national team jersey 15 times. Notably, some of these appearances were during the UEFA EURO 2024 qualifiers, one of Europe’s top football competitions.
However, Kindle has yet to score a goal for the national team. This somewhat reflects the overall strength of Liechtenstein — one of the weaker teams in Europe. Nevertheless, regularly appearing at the national team level is an important milestone for any young player.
Before joining the senior national team, Kenny Kindle spent many years playing for Liechtenstein’s youth squads. This process helped him gain early international experience, something not all players have, especially those from smaller football nations.
At the club level, Kindle has played in Switzerland and Slovakia and has also represented teams within Liechtenstein’s league system. Currently, he is contracted with FC Balzers, a club competing in the fifth tier of the Swiss football league system.
Liechtenstein currently ranks just outside the top 200 in the FIFA world rankings, far behind Vietnam. Therefore, Kenny Kindle is not a familiar name to domestic fans and is not yet regarded as a standout player in Europe.
Although he has not yet reached star status, having a player of Vietnamese descent competing internationally in Europe at an early age is a significant advantage. In the context of Vietnamese football increasingly focusing on overseas Vietnamese talent, cases like Kenny Kindle continue to offer interesting perspectives for fans.
