Central defender Rizky Ridho is focused on winning the title with Indonesia’s national squad in the AFF Cup 2026.
On the afternoon of January 15, the group draw for the 2026 ASEAN Cup (AFF Cup) took place, determining two groups: Group A includes Vietnam, Indonesia, Singapore, Cambodia, and East Timor/Brunei.. Group B features Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, Myanmar, and Laos.
Regarding Indonesia’s group, central defender Rizky Ridho commented: "This is not an easy group. We must work harder for what we expect and hope for. Indonesia has been runners-up six times, and with some luck, we can win under the guidance of our new coach."
At 25 years old, Rizky Ridho has already earned 50 caps for Indonesia’s national team across all competitions. In 2020, he helped the team finish as runners-up in the AFF Cup.
When asked about his team’s chances of winning, the defender shared:“We will reach the final and win, if luck is on our side. Of course, everyone called up must give their best for Indonesia.”
Speaking about the likelihood that Indonesia may not field its strongest squad, especially naturalized players playing abroad, Rizky Ridho stated:“There is still a chance that players competing in Europe can join the team. We will definitely stand united because we share the same goal: to win the championship,”Ridho concluded.
As for, Indonesia’s new head coach John Herdman commented: "This tournament is very prestigious and top-level. All participating teams have similar strength. But we certainly have a chance (to win)."
The AFF Cup 2026 will take place from July 24 to August 26, 2026. This is the first time in 30 years that the Southeast Asian football championship will be held in the summer.
