Confirmed by Romano’s "Here we go," Manchester City has completed the signing of 25-year-old English defender and Crystal Palace captain Guehi, whose contract had only six months remaining, for £20 million in the winter transfer window. With a Transfermarkt valuation of €55 million, this means City acquired the prominent English defender for less than half his market price, making it the ideal solution to compensate for Gvardiol’s long-term injury.

Guehi is a product of Chelsea’s youth academy and transferred to another London club, Crystal Palace, in the summer of 2021 for €23.34 million. He gradually became the team captain, featuring in 188 matches across all competitions with 11 goals and 8 assists. Last season, he helped Palace win their first-ever FA Cup title. However, this season, as defending FA Cup champions, Palace suffered an embarrassing early exit, losing to a sixth-tier team, casting a shadow over the squad’s morale.

Now 25 years old, Guehi stands 1.82 meters tall, is right-footed, and primarily plays as a center-back. This season, he has appeared 33 times for Crystal Palace in all competitions, starting 32 matches and accumulating 2,832 minutes on the pitch, contributing 3 goals and 3 assists—a solid defensive presence. Upon joining Manchester City, he is expected to become a key central defender, replacing the long-term injured Gvardiol.
