Determining the quarter-final matchups of the National U19 Championship

On the afternoon of January 19, the last two games of Group C in the National U19 Championship finals were played, determining the final spots for the quarter-final round.

In Group C, HAGL needed at least a draw and had to wait for the other match’s result to know if they could secure a quarter-final berth. Therefore, the mountain town team adopted a cautious approach against SHB Đà Nẵng. Meanwhile, the team from the Han River side was already eliminated, so this match was played for pride.

SHB Đà Nẵng entered the match with a relaxed mindset and readiness to attack. However, the first half unfolded without much excitement. Both teams missed several chances to score the opening goal. The first 45 minutes ended goalless.

In the second half, the efforts of coach Đào Quang Hùng’s team were soon rewarded when Nguyễn Hoàng Nhân scored in the 47th minute. Refusing to accept defeat, HAGL pushed forward to find an equalizer. Despite this, Đắc Lộc and his teammates were not very effective. In the 80th minute, thanks to Nguyễn Hoàng Gia Huy’s moment of brilliance, HAGL scored the goal to secure a 1-1 draw against SHB Đà Nẵng.

Meanwhile, Đồng Tháp would qualify for the quarter-finals if they drew with Sông Lam Nghệ An. Although already guaranteed to advance, the Nghệ An team still played an entertaining style. Minh Thủy opened the scoring for SLNA in the first half before Quốc Hòa and Nhật Sang added goals. Chí Kiệt’s equalizer was not enough to earn them a point.

Thus, after the group stage, the eight teams moving on include PVF-CAND, Thể Công Viettel I, Hồng Lĩnh Hà Tĩnh (Group A); Hà Nội, PVF, TP.HCM (Group B); Sông Lam Nghệ An, and HAGL (Group C).

Following the conclusion of the group stage, the eight outstanding teams that qualified for the quarter-finals of the National U19 Championship – Modern Cup 2025/26 have been confirmed with the following matchups:

– Quarter-final 1 (17:00) PVF CAND vs HAGL

– Quarter-final 2 (14:30) Hà Nội vs Hồng Lĩnh Hà Tĩnh

– Quarter-final 3 (14:30) Sông Lam Nghệ An vs TP.HCM

– Quarter-final 4 (14:30) Thể Công Viettel I vs PVF
