Coach Jurgen Klopp clearly states his potential to manage Real Madrid

Coach Jurgen Klopp has commented on the possibility of resuming his managerial career, particularly at a time when he is connected with Real Madrid.

After Xabi Alonso was dismissed by Real Madrid last week, Jurgen Klopp has once again been linked to the head coach position at Bernabeu, although he is currently working for Red Bull and Alvaro Arbeloa has taken over the coaching role for the royal club.

With his reputation and major successes at Dortmund and Liverpool, Klopp’s name almost always comes up when top coaching positions are discussed. However, in a recent interview with the press in Leipzig, the German strategist declared he has no intention of returning to coaching in the near future, and might never come back at all.

Klopp shared: “I don’t think I will change my mind, but I can’t be certain. Right now, we are building a house and my wife wants a large trophy room. I said a small room would be enough because we know how many titles we have and there won’t be more. It sounds arrogant, but I know I can coach football. It’s just that I don’t need to do it until my last day.”

Although he helped Liverpool win the Champions League and Premier League, as well as achieve great feats at Dortmund, Klopp does not overestimate himself as a coach. He stated he has never considered himself one of the world’s best managers.

He added: “I have never thought of myself as a world-class coach because when I finish a job, I still have many questions. I ask myself how I could be world-class when there is so much I don’t understand. I don’t review goals because I want to understand the game from angles beyond the score. I want to know why things happened. The result is just the consequence of the performance. We focus on improving the performance and then the results will follow.”

At present, Klopp seems completely satisfied with his role at Red Bull. If a major opportunity arises in the coming years, it remains unclear whether the German strategist would be convinced to return to the sidelines or if he has truly closed the chapter on his coaching career.

In 2015, Klopp became Liverpool’s manager and began a new era in the Merseyside club’s history. Under his leadership, Liverpool returned to glory by winning the 2020 Premier League title, ending a 30-year wait. Before that, he led The Kop to Champions League victory in 2019 and secured the FIFA Club World Cup title the same year.

After leaving Liverpool at the end of the 2023/24 season, Jurgen Klopp did not step away from football. The German coach took a new career path by assuming a senior management role as Global Football Director for the Red Bull group, and he remains active within this system.
