Finalizing the roster of the Vietnam Futsal team for the 2026 AFC Futsal Championship

The official list of 14 players includes: Pham Van Tu, Tran Van Luong (goalkeepers); and players Nguyen Manh Dung, Dinh Cong Vien, Tran Quang Nguyen, Nhan Gia Hung, Chau Doan Phat, Trinh Cong Dai, Duong Ngoc Linh, Vu Ngoc Anh, Tu Minh Quang, Tran Thai Huy, Nguyen Thinh Phat, and Nguyen Da Hai.

Accordingly, the five players not included in the final list are goalkeeper Luu Thanh Bao and players Nguyen Tien Hung, Nguyen Hoang Quan, An Lam Toi, and Ngo Ngoc Son.

Looking at the list, it is clear that the 14 selected players are all outstanding and highly experienced members of Vietnam’s Futsal team at present. This is a crucial factor for the team to compete effectively at the high level of the 2026 AFC Futsal Championship finals, which gathers the continent’s top teams.

Previously, the Vietnam Futsal team gathered and trained starting January 2, 2026, at the Futsal Arena in Chanh Hung Ward (Ho Chi Minh City). Within the framework arranged by the Vietnam Football Federation, Coach Diego Giustozzi’s squad played two internal friendly matches against Afghanistan’s Futsal team on January 19 and 21, 2026, in Ho Chi Minh City. These matches served as important tests to help the coaching staff evaluate the squad, refine tactics, and verify strategic plans before the official tournament.

Reflecting on the recent training phase and the two matches against Afghanistan, Coach Diego Giustozzi stated that when competing against Southeast Asian teams like Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, or Myanmar, the physical and technical levels are somewhat similar. However, facing other Asian opponents with stronger fitness and higher playing quality requires the Vietnam Futsal team to further improve their skills to compete effectively. The two games against a World Cup-class team like Afghanistan provided the coaching staff with valuable data that helped clarify the direction for technical preparation ahead of the tournament.

According to the plan, the Vietnam Futsal team will depart for Indonesia tomorrow morning (January 24) to take part in the 2026 AFC Futsal Championship finals. In this tournament, Vietnam is placed in Group B alongside strong competitors: the current Asian runners-up Thailand, Kuwait, and Lebanon.

At the Asian Futsal stage, Vietnam’s Futsal team made a significant impact by reaching the semifinals in 2016, which secured their first-ever qualification for the FIFA Futsal World Cup in history. With their current status and the fresh energy brought by talented young players in recent years, Coach Diego Giustozzi’s team continues to carry high hopes of making a new mark on the continental stage.
