Burnley, struggling in the relegation fight, ended a five-match losing streak against Tottenham Hotspur, but only managed a disappointing 2-2 draw at Turf Moor. This result extended Burnley’s Premier League winless streak to 14 games and left them falling further behind West Ham, who currently sit 18th.
Tottenham arrived at Turf Moor in high spirits after their midweek victory and quickly pushed forward aggressively. Djed Spence, playing an unfamiliar winger role, forced goalkeeper Martin Dúbravka into an early save. However, it was Burnley who nearly took the lead first. From a chaotic moment inside the box, Lucas Pires scored for Burnley, but the goal was disallowed for an obvious offside, allowing Spurs to narrowly avoid going behind.
During the first half-hour, Tottenham’s most notable chances came from set pieces. Pedro Porro’s free kick skimmed the post, causing Burnley fans to hold their breath. The Portuguese defender remained Tottenham’s biggest threat, following up with another free kick that forced Dúbravka into a solid save.
The final minutes of the first half saw Tottenham intensify their pressure. Dúbravka made several crucial saves against shots from Wilson Odobert and Conor Gallagher, including an impressive double save. Despite this, Burnley’s defense eventually cracked. From a subsequent corner, the ball fell perfectly to Micky van de Ven, who fired a precise left-footed shot into the low corner to give Tottenham the lead.
The goal gave Spurs the advantage going into halftime, but Burnley demonstrated their readiness to fight until the end amid their desperate relegation battle.
