With Shandong pulling off a shocking upset over Guangsha, Xinjiang crushing Liaoning, and Zhejiang narrowly defeating Shanghai, the CBA standings have been released.

On January 26th Beijing time, the CBA regular season proceeded with multiple fierce battles ending last night. Fujian powered past Sichuan 118-82, Shandong caused an upset by defeating top-ranked Guangsha 93-87, Zhejiang narrowly won over a formidable Shanghai 85-82, and Xinjiang routed Liaoning 78-59. Consequently, the updated rankings have Guangsha leading, Shanghai in second, Shandong sixth, and Sichuan at the bottom with no wins!

Fujian faced Sichuan. Two struggling teams clashed, with Sichuan yet to secure a victory this season. After a competitive first quarter, Sichuan collapsed completely, leaving Fujian unchallenged. The score gap kept widening as Fujian’s relentless offense continued until the end. Ultimately, Fujian’s balanced attack saw five players score in double digits, overwhelming Sichuan and handing them their 19th consecutive loss!

Shandong took on Guangsha. Shandong challenged the league leaders Guangsha, who were riding a seven-game winning streak. In the first half at home, Shandong played efficiently on both ends, suppressing Guangsha whose shooting was cold with many misses. Shandong stretched the lead to 30 points. However, Shandong’s shooting percentage dropped sharply later, and Guangsha gradually found their rhythm, launching a fierce comeback led by Brown’s high-efficiency scoring, narrowing the gap to single digits. Despite the pressure, Shandong held firm in the clutch to narrowly defeat Guangsha, ending their seven-game winning streak!

Zhejiang faced Shanghai. Against a Shanghai team on a four-game winning streak, both sides struggled with shooting in the first quarter, leading to a tight battle with Zhejiang up by one. In the second quarter, Zhejiang’s offense remained steady, but Shanghai ramped up their scoring to outscore Zhejiang by 7 points in the period, leading by 6 at halftime. The second half saw a back-and-forth fight with both teams trading efforts to maintain the score. In the final quarter, Shanghai’s offense stalled dramatically while Zhejiang intensified their attack, unleashing a scoring surge that chipped away at the deficit with a 22-14 run, ultimately securing a hard-fought victory over Shanghai!

Xinjiang met Liaoning. Two traditional powerhouses clashed, though both have declined this season and lost competitiveness. The first half was a rollercoaster with both teams having strong quarters, Xinjiang leading by 2 at halftime. The second half featured poor shooting and frequent misses from both sides, with Xinjiang maintaining a slight 3-point lead. In the final quarter, Liaoning’s offense completely stalled, going scoreless for long stretches with cold shooting. Xinjiang’s balanced scoring exploded in a 20-4 run that crushed Liaoning, securing a decisive victory!

Tonight there are three more matchups: Beijing Royal Fighters vs. Jilin, Guangdong vs. Tianjin, and Shanxi vs. Beijing. Looking forward to the results!
