Hiểu Minh shares great news, confirming the timing of his return to the football field

Central defender Nguyễn Hiểu Minh recently had a complicated knee surgery that ended successfully.

On the morning of January 28, central defender Nguyễn Hiểu Minh underwent an important surgical procedure at Van Hanh Hospital (Ho Chi Minh City) to treat the knee injury sustained during play. Speaking to Thanh Niên newspaper, Dr. Phạm Quốc Hùng, who performed the surgery, stated that Hiểu Minh’s injury was quite complex, requiring careful and precise intervention.

Dr. Hùng said: “The surgery took about one and a half hours, longer than usual due to the complexity of the injury. Hiểu Minh had an anterior cruciate ligament tear, meniscus damage, and the doctor also had to operate on the posterolateral corner of the knee joint and address several other issues. Nevertheless, the surgery was successfully completed.”

According to medical assessment, with this type of injury, Hiểu Minh will need a long period for full recovery. Dr. Phạm Quốc Hùng confirmed that the 2004-born defender is expected to require about 10 months before he can return to top-level competition. If the rehabilitation progresses well, Hiểu Minh may return to the field by the end of this year.

Currently, the health condition of the player from PVF-CAND Club is stable, with no complications after surgery. Hiểu Minh will remain hospitalized for about three days for close monitoring by doctors. Afterwards, if all medical indicators are positive, he will return to the club to officially start recovery following a specialized rehabilitation program.

During his hospital stay in Ho Chi Minh City, Hiểu Minh received direct care and support from Vietnam national team doctor Trần Huy Thọ, who accompanied U23 Vietnam at the 2026 AFC U23 Championship held in Saudi Arabia.

Earlier, immediately after returning from the 2026 AFC U23 Championship, central defender Nguyễn Hiểu Minh was taken to Vinmec Hospital for a comprehensive examination of his injury. There, doctors and experts held a thorough consultation to agree on the best treatment plan for the 2004-born player.

During this challenging time, Hiểu Minh also received timely care and encouragement from the PVF-CAND Club leadership. Major General Lê Vân, the club’s chairman, CEO Trần Phi Hùng, and representatives of the coaching staff personally visited to offer support, boost morale, and present meaningful gifts from the Minister of Public Security, PVF Center, and PVF-CAND Club to the young player.
