After 5 months of suspension by FIFA, the Malaysian naturalized star sends an unexpected message

After almost five months sidelined, defender Facundo Garcés expressed heartfelt feelings for the first time, confessing how much he missed football as if it were family, on the day his temporary suspension was removed.

Following a lengthy period of suspension from playing, defender Facundo Garcés shared his personal feelings for the first time, acknowledging a deep longing for football, which he regards as his second family throughout his career.

Garcés’s statement was posted on social media in the comments under Deportivo Alavés’ post, right after the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) announced the latest update regarding the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) ruling. This move marked the official moment when Garcés was allowed to resume professional activities.

Previously, CAS approved the request to temporarily suspend the sanctions against seven naturalized Malaysian national team players, including Facundo Garcés. This decision meant that the FIFA-imposed ban was temporarily lifted, allowing the players to continue their careers while awaiting the final verdict.

After nearly five months away from the pitch since last September, Garcés couldn’t hide his emotions when talking about football. “I truly miss my family,” the Argentine defender wrote briefly but emotionally, implying the community of players, coaches, and those who have been part of his career journey.

The lifting of the suspension opened the door for Garcés and six other players to return not only at the club level but also with the possibility of rejoining the Malaysian national team. This is considered a significant turning point after a long period of training and living in uncertainty.

Deportivo Alavés also confirmed that the defender has returned to training with the entire squad

According to international media, Deportivo Alavés, the club owning Garcés, quickly confirmed the defender’s return to training and team activities. This partly reflects the Spanish club’s trust in the 25-year-old player and offers hope that Garcés will soon regain his top form after off-field challenges.

While awaiting the final CAS decision, Facundo Garcés and his teammates will continue to play cautiously, but at least the door back to professional football has been opened after months of hardship.
