Western Conference standings in the NBA are in chaos! Rockets defeat Clippers to rise to third, Lakers suffer heavy loss to Spurs, Suns secure a win

On February 11th Beijing time, the NBA regular season battles went on. In the last three games, the Clippers’ comeback fell short as they lost 95-102 to the Rockets with all starters. The Mavericks, despite many free throw attempts, fell 111-120 to the Suns. The Spurs dominated with a 136-108 victory over the Lakers’ bench players. Consequently, the Western standings are disrupted: Spurs hold second place with five consecutive wins, Rockets climb to third after two wins passing the Nuggets, Lakers drop to fourth after two losses, and Clippers solidify tenth place!

Clippers vs. Rockets. The Rockets maintain a solid top-four record and hosted the Clippers, who are fighting for a play-in spot. Both teams were missing their starting point guards, making the game intriguing. The first half saw a fierce tug-of-war with the score gap never widening, resulting in a tight contest. In the second half, the Rockets found their rhythm and aggressively pressured the Clippers. Durant led with efficient scoring and multiple contributors helped extend the lead significantly. Although the Clippers gave up early in the final quarter, their bench erupted with points closing the gap and causing the Rockets some nervous moments. Nevertheless, the Rockets held firm and secured a hard-fought victory!

Mavericks vs. Suns. The Mavericks have been struggling with a losing streak and morale was low heading into a tough matchup against the strong Suns. Right from the start, the Mavericks went cold offensively while the Suns fired on all cylinders, outscoring them 36-16 in one quarter to build a commanding 20-point lead, effectively deciding the game early. Later, the Mavericks improved their offensive efficiency and drew many free throws, exchanging blows with the Suns. However, the Suns kept delivering steady scoring, never allowing the Mavericks to close the gap. In the final quarter, the Suns’ offense slowed, letting the Mavericks score heavily with a 36-24 run to cut the deficit, but with seven Suns players scoring double digits, they easily sealed the win!

Spurs vs. Lakers. The Spurs have been consistent lately, riding a winning streak to hold second place. In this away game against the Lakers, the latter appeared discouraged before tip-off, missing three key players: Doncic, LeBron James, and Reeves, fielding a severely weakened lineup against the Spurs’ full-strength squad. The outcome was predictable as the Spurs dominated comfortably. Facing the Lakers’ reserves, the Spurs played with ease. Wembanyama was unstoppable, exploding for 40 points and single-handedly dismantling the Lakers. With this, the Spurs extended their winning streak to five and remain firmly in second place in the West!
