Sporting Lisbon fans had a surprising Friday evening when movie star Sydney Sweeney appeared in the stands and even showcased her football skills right on the pitch.
The actress, famous for her roles in series like Euphoria and The White Lotus , was present at the Estadio Jose Alvalade to watch Sporting's 3-0 victory over Estoril.
After the match concluded, Sweeney delighted the audience by coming down to the field to interact and have a "kickabout" with English actor Leo Woodall, known for his work in The White Lotus and One Day. They were also joined by Matthew Goode, a star from The Crown and Downton Abbey.
Sweeney impressed with her neat ball control and confident dribbling in tight spaces. She even outpaced Woodall when the 29-year-old actor tried to close her down to make a tackle.
On social media, one account humorously remarked that the actress possesses "dribbling skills even better than the club's legend Cristiano Ronaldo."
In the widely circulated video, the Hollywood star wore a casual outfit consisting of jeans, a hoodie, and a leather jacket, comfortably playing football and interacting with Sporting's mascot, Jubas.
Sydney Sweeney and her colleagues are currently in Portugal to prepare for a new film project titled Custom of the Country, an adaptation of the classic novel by Edith Wharton. The film was announced just a month ago.
Sporting's official page also promptly posted a photo of the three famous actors with a welcome message: "Welcome to Alvalade, Sydney Sweeney, Leo Woodall, and Matthew Goode".
Meanwhile, the home team had a perfect night, defeating Estoril 3-0 thanks to a brace from Luis Suarez and a late stoppage-time goal by Daniel Braganca, thereby solidifying their second-place position in the league table. Coach Rui Borges's team now trails Porto by only four points in the title race.
