The Vietnamese men's futsal national team is grouped with host Thailand in the upcoming Southeast Asian championship scheduled for April.
The draw for the 2026 Southeast Asian Men's Futsal Championship groups took place today (March 1) in Nakhon Ratchasima province (Thailand). The tournament features 9 participating teams: Thailand (host), Vietnam, Indonesia, Australia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Timor-Leste, Cambodia, and Brunei.
According to the draw results, Group A consists of Thailand, Vietnam, Myanmar, and Timor-Leste. Group B includes Indonesia, Australia, Malaysia, Cambodia, and Brunei.

The Vietnamese futsal national team is grouped with Thailand in the 2026 Southeast Asian championship.
The tournament will be held from April 5–11, 2026, at the Nonthaburi Provincial Stadium. In the group stage, teams will play a single round-robin format to select the top two teams from each group for the semifinals. The detailed match schedule will be announced later.
The Thai futsal national team has been crowned champion 16 times, the most in Southeast Asian championship history. As the host of this edition, Thailand is determined to win the title.

Meanwhile, the Indonesian futsal national team is the current Southeast Asian champion after defeating Vietnam 2-0 in the 2024 final.
At the 2025 SEA Games, the Indonesian team won the gold medal in men's futsal. In the 2026 Asian Futsal Championship, Indonesia impressed by finishing as runners-up. In the final, they lost 4-5 to Iran in a penalty shootout.
The best achievement of the Vietnamese futsal national team in the Southeast Asian championship is the runner-up position, having finished second three times in 2009, 2012, and 2024. At the 2025 SEA Games, the Vietnamese futsal team placed 4th.
