India's head coach makes a statement ahead of the match against the Vietnamese team

On the eve of the clash with the Vietnamese women's team at the 2026 Women's Asian Cup finals, India's head coach Amelia Valverde expressed caution but also determination during the pre-match press conference.

This coach stated that the South Asian team has prepared thoroughly and is ready for the major challenge in the group stage.

Recalling the incomplete memory from the previous tournament, when India was forced to withdraw due to COVID-19, Valverde said this year's competition holds special significance for the entire team. “Four years ago, we couldn't advance past the group stage, but now we are back and have the opportunity to prove ourselves,” Valverde said. “Therefore, this is a new opportunity, and we must present our team in the best possible way."

“We are very optimistic about this tournament. In Turkey, we focused on hard work and preparation. We are aware of the playing style of Vietnam. They have performed well, so we anticipate facing difficulties."

“We have played many matches together, so we understand each other well and are ready to field India's strongest lineup. Our goal is to compete fiercely in every match and provide opportunities for our players to improve and showcase their abilities.”

Assessing the opponent, the Costa Rican strategist acknowledged that Vietnam is a well-organized team with many quality players. However, she believes that with strong cohesion and high fighting spirit, India is capable of putting up a competitive match and aims for a positive result in the opening game.

The match between the Vietnamese women's team and the Indian women's team will take place at 6:00 PM at Perth Stadium.
