Vietnam holds a significant advantage over India in the Asian Cup

Prior to facing the Indian women's team, every past statistic is currently in favor of the Vietnamese women's team.

Across all competitions, the two teams have met five times. Vietnam dominates with four wins and one draw, while India has never defeated the Southeast Asian representative. Specifically in the AFC Women's Asian Cup, Vietnam won both previous encounters, both in the group stage with scores of 3-0 and 2-1. However, the upcoming reunion will be their first meeting in this tournament since 2003.

Meanwhile, the most recent match between the two teams was during the 2023 AFC Women's Olympic Qualifying Round in Tashkent (Uzbekistan). At that time, the Vietnamese team secured a 3-1 victory over their opponent. Huynh Nhu opened the scoring in the 4th minute, Tran Thi Hai Linh doubled the lead in the 22nd minute, and Pham Hai Yen made it 3-0 in the 73rd minute before Sandhiya Ranganathan scored a consolation goal for India in the 80th minute.

All statistics are leaning in favor of the Vietnamese women's team against India

On the continental stage, the Vietnamese women's team's most recent campaign at the AFC Women's Asian Cup 2022 marked a historic milestone. For the first time, the team advanced to the knockout stage and only stopped in the quarter-finals after a 1-3 loss to China, who later became champions. This is considered the most successful tournament for Vietnamese women's football in the Asian Cup.

Recent form in this competition also supports Vietnam. The team has scored in their last four Asian Cup matches, just one match short of their longest scoring streak in tournament history (5 consecutive matches from 1999–2001). Moreover, Vietnam has won their last two matches in the tournament, and historically, they have only once had a longer winning streak - three consecutive wins from 1999 to 2001.

In contrast, India has faced significant difficulties in the Asian Cup, losing seven of their last nine matches. Notably, they scored only one goal in all seven of those losses.

A superior head-to-head record, more stable recent form on the continental stage, and a positive psychological foundation are providing a clear advantage for the Vietnamese women's team in the match against India, scheduled for 18:00 on March 4th.
