Paris Saint-Germain's midfielder Vitinha recently attracted notice when he gave his opinion on the finest midfielders in world football today, with Bruno Fernandes standing out among them.
In an interview with Canal 11, when asked to name the three best midfielders in the world today, Vitinha surprisingly mentioned Bruno Fernandes as one of the most prominent names.
For the first position, Vitinha did not hesitate to choose Barcelona's Pedri. In his view, the Spanish star is demonstrating superior class thanks to his creative and technical style of play.
"For me, Pedri has to be at the top of the list. He truly has something magical. Watching Pedri play is a very special experience, and when you face him directly, you feel that even more,"Vitinha shared.
Besides Pedri, Vitinha also selected two of his compatriots for the top group of best midfielders: Joao Neves and Bruno Fernandes.
"A top three? I would choose Joao Neves and Bruno Fernandes. They are on either side of me and Pedri. So, I don't really have a top three, but a top four," the PSG midfielder added.
Vitinha's statement shows he holds Bruno Fernandes – the captain of Manchester United – in very high regard. Since joining Old Trafford in 2020, Bruno has become one of the most outstanding attacking midfielders in Europe due to his playmaking, goal-scoring, and leadership abilities.
In the most recent season, the 31-year-old midfielder continued to play a central role in Manchester United's tactical system. Not only did he contribute professionally with crucial goals and assists, but Bruno also served as the team's spiritual leader both on and off the pitch.
In the Portugal national team jersey, Bruno Fernandes is also one of the key pillars alongside the emerging generation of young players like Vitinha and Joao Neves. The blend of experience and youth is seen as the foundation for Portugal to maintain competitiveness in major tournaments.
Therefore, Vitinha's inclusion of Bruno Fernandes among the world's best midfielders is not very surprising. This is considered an acknowledgment of the influence and caliber that the Manchester United star has demonstrated over many years at the club level and the national team.
