Coach Mai Duc Chung highlights the concentration of his students before the crucial encounter with the Chinese Taipei national team.
In the second match of Group C, 2026 Asian Cup Finals, the Vietnam women's national team will face the tough challenge named Chinese Taipei. This is a decisive match for a quarter-final ticket in the group stage, so both teams are placing high concentration.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Coach Mai Duc Chung predicted his players would encounter many challenges from the opponent:
“Fortunately, we secured a victory in the previous match. Tomorrow we play at 1 p.m., which is a challenge, but the opponent is also more familiar to us,” Coach Mai Duc Chung said.
“Playing in the afternoon is not easy, but the team's spirit is very strong and we hope to perform like the previous match and achieve the desired result. Each team has its own tactics depending on the opponent. They (Taiwan) lost their opening match, so I think this time they might play more fiercely than before,”the 76-year-old strategist assessed.
Finally, Coach Mai Duc Chung stressed that the players of the Vietnam women's national team need to maintain high focus for the match against the Chinese Taipei team:
“In this group stage, we must continue to fight to advance. Taiwan has experienced players; they have improved a lot over the past four months. We must maintain our focus and give our all if we want to go far in this tournament.”
On the other side of the pitch, Coach Prasobchoke of the Chinese Taipei team stated:“We are not worried about the tactics to be used against Vietnam. My priority is to establish the core principle – to play for victory. Each match is different, but the fundamental mindset remains the same.”
The match between the Vietnam women's national team and the Chinese Taipei women's national team will take place at 12:00 on March 7, Vietnam time.
