This year's tournament features four teams: the host nation China U23, Vietnam U23, Thailand U23, and North Korea U23. They will compete in a single round-robin format to determine the final rankings.
According to the schedule announced by the organizers, the Vietnam U23 team will face North Korea U23 on March 25th, play against Thailand U23 on March 28th, and finally meet the host China U23 in the last match on March 31st.
In preparation for this tournament, the Vietnam U23 team is scheduled to begin training camp in Hanoi on March 17th. This is part of the VFF's plan to build a successor generation for the National Team, while also providing young players with opportunities to gain international match experience, aiming to prepare personnel for the 2026 Asian Games.
In recent years, Vietnam's youth national teams have been frequent invitees to the CFA Team China tournament, thereby accumulating valuable international competition experience. Their continued participation this year demonstrates the trust of the Chinese Football Association and the increasingly stable standing of Vietnamese youth football within the region.
The training camp starting March 17th will be an opportunity for the coaching staff to assess the squad, test personnel, and refine tactical aspects. Although the preparation period is not overly long, it is sufficient for the team to familiarize themselves with the training regimen and enhance cohesion before entering a series of high-quality friendly matches in Xi'an.
