2026 Asian Women's Football Championship: Vietnam Women's National Team Determined to Achieve Good Results Against Chinese Taipei

Speaking before the match, Coach Mai Duc Chung emphasized that the victory over the Indian team in the opening match was significant, but the whole team still faces many challenges in the upcoming game.

Coach Mai Duc Chung stated: "In the first match, we were fortunate to win against India. The next match takes place at local noon time, under quite hot weather conditions, so there will certainly be many difficulties. Our previous match was in the evening, while the opponent is accustomed to playing at noon. Nevertheless, the whole team is striving to adapt and will try our best to aim for the best result."

Regarding the Chinese Taipei women's team, Coach Mai Duc Chung noted that each match has its own characteristics, and the coaching staff will develop appropriate tactical plans. According to him, after the loss in their opening match against Japan, Chinese Taipei is likely to play more determinedly to seek points. This team may proactively push their formation higher for attack rather than playing defensively as they did against Japan. He clarified: "We always prepare different strategies depending on the opponent and the match situation. Chinese Taipei will certainly be more determined after their first loss, so the Vietnam team needs to play focused and cautiously."

Coach Mai Duc Chung also stressed that this year's group includes Japan – the team considered the strongest in the group. Therefore, the remaining three teams must play very cautiously if they want to secure a spot to advance. He affirmed: "We are not calculating too far ahead. The immediate goal is to overcome each match and strive to achieve the best results."

According to Coach Mai Duc Chung, the Chinese Taipei squad has undergone many changes compared to before, both in players and coaching staff. This team has also added some naturalized players, including one of Japanese origin, strengthening their lineup.

This strategist emphasized: "In their match against Japan, they proactively played low to limit conceding goals. Therefore, the upcoming encounter will be very important for both teams. Even though we have 3 points, the Vietnam women's team still needs to prepare thoroughly and play extremely cautiously."

Meanwhile, forward Pham Hai Yen said the victory over India has boosted the team's confidence ahead of the next match. Hai Yen shared: "After the win against India, the team's morale is very good. On the Chinese Taipei side, Coach Prasobchoke Chokemor stated that the team has quickly recovered physically after the match against Japan and is in good condition to prepare for the encounter with the Vietnam women's team. He also confirmed that the players have adapted to the noon match conditions in Australia, so weather factors will not be a major obstacle.
