Liverpool Advances to FA Cup Quarter-Finals with Victory Over Wolves

Liverpool delivered a strong response following their Premier League defeat by beating Wolves 3-1, securing their spot in the FA Cup quarter-finals.

Early morning on March 7 (Vietnam time), Liverpool traveled to Wolves' home ground for the FA Cup quarter-final match. After a disappointing loss in the Premier League a few days earlier, coach Arne Slot and his team entered the game with great determination to restore their image.

From the opening minutes, Liverpool proactively pushed forward with an attacking formation. Young player Rio Ngumoha, given a rare starting opportunity, quickly became a standout by repeatedly disrupting Wolves' right flank with his speed and confidence.

The visiting team created numerous chances in the first half. Cody Gakpo had a header that hit the post, but the goal was not recognized due to an offside violation. Alexis Mac Allister also fired a dangerous shot forcing goalkeeper Sam Johnstone to make a save, while Joe Gomez and Ngumoha both had close-range attempts narrowly missing the target. Nevertheless, the first half concluded without any goals scored.

The turning point arrived early in the second half. In the 50th minute, after a quick cross-field combination between Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah, the ball was returned to the left flank where Andy Robertson advanced to join the attack. The Scottish defender unleashed a powerful long-range shot from about 20 meters, defeating Johnstone to open the scoring for Liverpool.

Just three minutes later, Robertson continued to make his mark. From his challenging cross into the six-yard box, Mohamed Salah finished to net Wolves. Initially, the referee raised the flag for offside, but after consulting VAR, the goal was confirmed.

Trailing by two goals in quick succession, Wolves had to push forward seeking opportunities. However, Liverpool remained the team that completely controlled the match. Curtis Jones later sealed the home team's hopes with a precise curling shot from the edge of the penalty area.

During stoppage time, Hee Chan Hwang scored a consolation goal for Wolves, but that was insufficient to alter the outcome. Liverpool secured a convincing 3-1 victory, advancing to the FA Cup quarter-finals and temporarily relieving pressure for coach Arne Slot.
