The Thai women's U20 team missed out on the Bee Girls Trophy 2026 championship after losing to Russia's U20 with a score of 0-1.
Women's team Thailand U20 suffered a 0-1 defeat against Russia in the BEE GIRLS TROPHY 2026 final held on March 6 at Emirhan Stadium. Despite playing hard and creating many opportunities, the Southeast Asian representative still could not find an equalizing goal.
From the start of the match, Russia actively controlled the game and soon applied pressure on Thailand's goal. In the 15th minute, Polina Pavlova utilized Elena Golik's pass to shoot from close range, scoring the opening goal for the European team.
After conceding, Thailand U20 pushed their formation higher to seek an equalizer. Captain Pichayathida Manowang and her teammates had some notable shooting situations but lacked accuracy. At the end of the first half, Achiraya Yingsakul had a dangerous opportunity but the Russian goalkeeper made a timely save.
In the second half, Thailand continued to increase pressure. In the 64th minute, Kaden Chaowphan narrowly missed the post. The most unfortunate moment was in the 74th minute when Chaowphan's shot hit the post and bounced out.
No further goals were scored and Thailand U20 accepted the 0-1 defeat, thereby finishing in 4th place at the tournament. They had the same 6 points as Morocco and Turkey but were inferior in goal difference.
According to plan, the Thai women's U20 team will return home early on March 8. The coaching staff will soon evaluate the competition results and develop a preparation plan for the Asian Women's U20 Championship finals coming up, a tournament that Thailand will host.
