Coach Kim Sang Sik sets another remarkable record with the Vietnam national team if Malaysia is penalized with a 0-3 loss.

Coach Kim Sang Sik will establish another record with the Vietnam national team if AFC penalizes Malaysia with a 0-3 loss in the Asian Cup 2027 qualifying match.

All of Southeast Asia is focusing on AFC's final decision regarding the Malaysian Football Association and the Malaysian national team in the Asian Cup qualifiers. Accordingly, The Malaysian national team is almost certain to be penalized with a 0-3 loss in both matches against Nepal and Vietnam due to using ineligible naturalized players. In a worse scenario, they could even be expelled from the tournament.

Notably, if Malaysia is penalized with a loss, Coach Kim Sang Sik will set another memorable record for Vietnamese football.

Specifically, the Korean strategist could extend his unbeaten streak with the Vietnam national team to 15 matches. This achievement includes 8 matches in the 2024 AFF Cup, 5 matches in the Asian Cup 2027 qualifiers, and 2 friendly matches against India and Cambodia, comprising 13 wins and only 2 draws. This would be one of the longest unbeaten streaks in Vietnamese football history, bringing Coach Kim Sang Sik closer to the record of 18 unbeaten matches previously set under Coach Park Hang Seo.

Given his performance in a short period, Coach Kim Sang Sik is poised to become one of the new "record holders" in Vietnamese football. If he continues to maintain impressive results and adds major trophies in the coming years, the Korean coach could fully open a new era of success for the national team.

Previously, while coaching the Vietnam U23 team, Coach Kim Sang Sik also created a special mark by helping the team achieve a streak of 15 consecutive victories in official tournaments, spanning from the U23 Southeast Asia Championship, SEA Games 33, and most recently the 2026 AFC U23 Asian Cup finals.
