Mexico makes a shocking decision regarding the 2026 World Cup.

Mexico deploys a massive security plan for the 2026 World Cup following instability in many cities shortly before the tournament begins.

The Mexican government has just announced a large-scale security assurance plan for the 2026 World Cup, a tournament the country is co-hosting with the United States and Canada. According to the German Press Agency, over 100,000 personnel including soldiers, police, and private security forces will be mobilized to protect competition venues as well as areas designated for fans throughout the duration of the tournament taking place this summer.

Besides ground forces, Mexico also plans to deploy many modern support devices such as drones, military aircraft, and explosive-detection dogs. These measures aim to ensure all activities at the tournament proceed safely, amidst the large influx of international tourists expected to flock to North America to watch the planet's biggest football festival.

Speaking at a press conference held in Guadalajara—one of the host cities for matches—Mexican leadership affirmed that preparations are being carried out very rigorously. “Everything shows that we have prepared very thoroughly,” this leader shared with the media, emphasizing that authorities have developed a multi-layer security plan for the entire event.

According to the World Cup security coordination center in Mexico, each key location will be established with three to four control rings. Areas such as stadiums, team hotels, airports, and fan zones are all included in this protection system to minimize potential risks during the tournament.

Mexico will host a total of 13 matches of the 2026 World Cup in three cities: Mexico City, Guadalajara, and Monterrey. The opening match is scheduled for June 11 in the capital Mexico City. Guadalajara alone will host several notable group stage matches, including those featuring strong teams like Mexico, South Korea, and Spain.

With less than 100 days remaining, the 2026 World Cup will officially commence.

The security enhancement occurs after some areas in Mexico fell into chaos in late February due to conflicts. Many roads were blocked, vehicles burned, and public activities temporarily halted, causing Guadalajara to be nearly paralyzed for hours and forcing local authorities to declare an emergency.

Not only social life was affected, sporting events in Mexico also suffered significant impact. Some football matches were postponed or halted midway due to safety concerns, while some international friendly matches planned in the country were canceled. These developments made security a major concern ahead of the World Cup.

In the context of just over three months before the opening day, Mexico is urgently strengthening protective measures to reassure teams and global fans. The deployment of up to 100,000 personnel is seen as a crucial step to ensure the 2026 World Cup in this country can proceed safely and smoothly.
