Coach Kim Sang Sik attended the match at Thống Nhất Stadium to observe the Round 16 V-League game between CA TP.HCM and PVF-CAND, where overseas Vietnamese Khoa Ngô made a strong impression with his excellent display.
CA TP.HCM secured their second consecutive victory in the V-League after overcoming PVF-CAND at home in round 16, despite enduring a challenging match.
Notably, on the day Coach Kim Sang Sik traveled south to personally watch the match at Thống Nhất Stadium, the player who left the clearest mark was overseas Vietnamese Khoa Ngô, rather than other familiar stars.
Playing on the left flank, the 2006-born player impressed with skillful dribbling and direct breakthroughs into the opponent's defense. Additionally, he demonstrated notable speed and energetic play. This quality was evident in the opening goal at minute 76, when Khoa Ngô made a precise diagonal run following a teammate's cross before finishing cleanly into the net.
This scoring play not only secured the full three points for CA TP.HCM, but also helped Khoa Ngô raise his total V-League goals to three after five appearances. More notably, this was the second consecutive match in which the Australian-born player directly scored the decisive winning goal for the team named after Uncle Hồ, after netting the sole goal to help his team defeat HAGL in the previous round.
Given his outstanding performances recently, Khoa Ngô catching Coach Kim Sang Sik's attention is not too surprising. Vietnamese football is currently entering a phase of seeking and supplementing new talents for the U23 team, especially following success at the 33rd SEA Games and the recent U23 Asian Championship finals.
Currently, Khoa Ngô does not yet hold Vietnamese citizenship, so he is not eligible to represent youth national teams or the senior national team. However, if he continues to maintain impressive form wearing the CA TP.HCM jersey, the 2006-born player could fully receive support from the Vietnam Football Federation to soon complete necessary procedures, thereby aiming for important goals of youth teams, particularly ASIAD 2026, a tournament where Vietnam plans to utilize a U21 squad.
For CA TP.HCM, the victory over PVF-CAND helped Coach Lê Huỳnh Đức's squad solidify their fifth-place position on the standings with 26 points, distancing themselves by five points from the reigning champion Thép Xanh Nam Định.
