Latest CSL standings: Chengdu secures 2 consecutive wins to rise to top with 1-0 over Qingdao Hainiu, Henan's points reset, Shanghai Port triumphs 4-1.

On March 16 Beijing time, the second round of the Chinese Super League concluded, with three matches finishing last night. Among them, Henan defeated Yunnan Yukun 2-1, defending champion Shanghai Port surged in the second half to beat Qingdao West Coast 4-1, and Chengdu relied on a free kick to defeat Qingdao Hainiu 1-0. Thus, the latest standings are released: Chengdu leads with two consecutive wins, Chongqing ranks second, Yunnan third, while Shandong and Henan, also with two wins, have their points reset, placing fifth and sixth.

Henan faced Yunnan. Henan showed promising performances last season and is highly regarded this season, having beaten defending champion Shanghai Port 2-1 in the first round. In the second round against Yunnan, Yunnan's defenders performed poorly, giving Henan many opportunities. However, Henan's forward Mbulah lacked finishing ability, converting only one of four clear chances. Oscar equalized with a volley, but Henan ultimately won 2-1 thanks to an opponent's own goal, securing two consecutive wins in the new season and quickly resetting their points.

Shanghai Port faced Qingdao West Coast. Shanghai Port is the defending champion but suffered a 1-2 defeat against Henan in the first round of the new season. This round against Qingdao West Coast led by Zheng Zhi, both teams exchanged attacks in the first half without scoring. In the second half, the situation changed abruptly as West Coast collapsed; Shanghai Port continuously created chances and scored repeatedly. Wu Lei, substituted in, completed a brace within seven minutes. Shanghai Port led 4-0, essentially sealing the match. West Coast later scored one goal, ending the game with a 1-4 defeat to Shanghai Port.

Chengdu faced Qingdao Hainiu. Chengdu is the top favorite for the championship this season. In the first round, they started low but finished high, scoring five consecutive goals after conceding first to defeat the weak Shenzhen team (with 10 players) 5-1 for an opening victory. The second-round opponent was another weak team, Qingdao Hainiu. The opposing goalkeeper performed exceptionally, making consecutive brilliant saves, and Chengdu had poor luck and missed opportunities, hitting two posts. However, they still secured victory with Romulo's excellent direct free kick, winning 1-0 to claim two consecutive wins and take the top spot.
