The final between Jannik Sinner and Daniil Medvedev unfolded with an exciting script as both players displayed high form, especially in their service games. After nearly two hours of play, neither lost a break-point, forcing the match to be decided by two nerve-wracking tie-breaks. Sinner ultimately secured the overall victory with tight scores of 7-6 (6) and 7-6 (4).

World No. 2 Italian tennis player Jannik Sinner etched his name into world tennis history by becoming the third player in history to complete the collection of 6 ATP Masters 1000 titles on hard courts, following Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer.

Sinner has now won Masters 1000 titles at Indian Wells, Miami, Canada, Cincinnati, Shanghai, and Paris. The victory over Medvedev also made him the first Italian male player to achieve 100 wins in Masters 1000 events. Combined with titles at the Australian Open, US Open, and Nitto ATP Finals, he has completed the collection of major titles on hard courts.

Sinner also set a new record by becoming the first player to win two consecutive Masters 1000 tournaments without losing any set since the tournament system was established in 1990. This achievement follows the perfect streak of the Italian player in Paris last November.

The victory in California brought Sinner his first title of the year, while also narrowing the gap with world No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz. Currently, Sinner ranks 2nd on the ATP Rankings and trails Alcaraz by 2,200 points; the Italian player has a significant opportunity to break through in the coming period.

Alcaraz had won the Australian Open and this year's Doha tournament, but his unbeaten streak from the start of the season was halted by Medvedev in the Indian Wells semifinals.

For Medvedev, despite the defeat, the Russian player will return to the ATP Top 10. The 30-year-old player leads the ATP Tour in match wins for 2026 with 18 victories, after triumphing in Brisbane and Dubai. He leaves California holding the 2nd position in the ATP Live Race To Turin.
