Vietnam U23 Calls Up 30 Players to Prepare for CFA Team China 2026 Tournament

The Vietnam U23 National Team has announced a list of 30 players called up for the first training camp in 2026, aiming to prepare for the international football tournament CFA Team China 2026. According to the plan, the entire team will gather in Hanoi from March 17 before departing to China for matches at the end of the month.

This is the first training camp for Vietnam U23 since the 2026 AFC U23 Asian Cup Finals, coinciding with the FIFA Days schedule of the national team. Therefore, assistant coach Dinh Hong Vinh continues to be trusted by head coach Kim Sang-sik to act as Interim Head Coach of Vietnam U23 during this period.

In recent years, Mr. Dinh Hong Vinh has been a familiar figure accompanying youth teams such as Vietnam U22 and U23 in many training camps and international tournaments. His deep understanding of the young players is expected to help the coaching staff maintain stability for the squad during the current transitional phase.

For this training camp, the main objective of Vietnam U23 is to build a successor generation of players, as many key pillars have exceeded the age limit or been promoted to the national team. The coaching staff will focus on reviewing and evaluating the squad to prepare for men's football at the 2026 Asian Games, where the core is expected to be players from the 2005–2007 age group.

This call-up list continues to include many familiar faces who have matured from youth teams, such as goalkeeper Pham Dinh Hai, Cao Van Binh, midfielder Nguyen Cong Phuong, Le Van Thuận, or forward Nguyen Le Phat. Alongside them are a series of new talents like Nguyen Quoc Toan, Nguyen Anh Tuan, Tran Hai Anh, Nguyen Trong Son, Ta Xuan Truong, and Vu Quoc Anh, promising to create positive competition within the squad.

According to the plan, after nearly a week of training in Hanoi, the coaching staff will reduce the list to 25 players before departing to Xi'an city for the CFA Team China 2026 tournament, held from March 25 to March 31.

This year's tournament features four teams: host China U23, Vietnam U23, Thailand U23, and North Korea U23. The teams will play a single round-robin format to determine the final rankings. According to the match schedule, Vietnam U23 will face North Korea U23 on March 25, meet Thailand U23 on March 28, and conclude the tournament with a match against host China U23 on March 31.
