The Football Association of Thailand has officially announced the list of 23 players for the Thailand U23 national team participating in the international friendly tournament CFA Team China International Youth Tournament Xi'an held in Xi'an city, China during the FIFA Days in March.
The Thailand U23 team will participate in the tournament under the guidance of head coach Thawatchai Damrong-Ongtrakul, whom fans commonly refer to by the nickname "Coach Wang." This coach is expected to help the young Thai players showcase their potential and build a solid foundation for major tournaments in the future.
This 23-player list includes many young talents currently playing for top Thai League clubs. For the goalkeeper position, Coach Thawatchai Damrong-Ongtrakul has called up Sarawat Phosman from Songkhla FC, Chompat Bunlert from Pattaya United, and Kritsana Phumarin from Plangkan FC.
The defensive line features players from prominent clubs such as BG Pathum United, True Bangkok United, and Muangthong United. Notable names include Chonnapat Buaphan, Sapol Noiwong, Pichitchai Siankrathok, and Vision Inaram. These are all players assessed as having potential and regularly competing in professional leagues.
In the midfield area, Thailand U23 possesses many energetic young midfielders like Kokana Khamyok, Thanakrit Chotmuangpak, and Kritphak Saengsawat. Particularly, the inclusion of players from Muangthong United and Buriram United is expected to make the team's midfield operate more flexibly and creatively.
For the forward line, Coach Thawatchai Damrong-Ongtrakul selected four strikers: Jehhanaphi Mama, Worawut Noisri, Chawalwit Saelao, and Theeraphat Prueathong. Among them, Theeraphat Prueathong is a notable figure as he is currently playing abroad for Japan's club Hokkaido Consadole Sapporo.
According to the plan, all players will assemble at the Football Association of Thailand headquarters on March 23, 2026, before departing for Xi'an on the same day. The tournament in China is considered an important opportunity for the coaching staff to evaluate each player's capabilities and prepare for upcoming regional and continental youth tournaments.
With a youthful and promising squad, Thailand U23 is expected to deliver an impressive performance in this friendly tournament. This is not only a valuable opportunity for exposure but also helps the young Golden Temple nation's team test its strength before embarking on larger goals in the future.
