Goalkeeper Ho Van Y couldn't hide his excitement when rejoining the Vietnamese national team after 8 months of injury recovery.
To prepare for the 2026 Southeast Asian Championship taking place in Thailand, the Vietnamese national futsal team has regrouped with 20 summoned players. Notably, goalkeeper Ho Van Y has officially returned after more than 8 months of injury.
Sharing his thoughts after a long absence, Ho Van Y stated: "After a period of treatment, I am happy and excited to be summoned again. During the past 8 months of treatment, I was sad but always tried hard in recovery training sessions."
Ho Van Y is one of Vietnam's top futsal goalkeepers today. He developed from the Da Nang futsal team during 2015-2017, before joining Thai Son Nam and quickly establishing himself as a key player for both the club and the national team. In 2018, Van Y was listed among the world's top 10 futsal goalkeepers.
At the FIFA Futsal World Cup 2021 in Lithuania, Van Y performed impressively, helping the Vietnamese team reach the quarter-finals. His outstanding performance was highly praised by FIFA, and he was honored as the Best Player of the Match between Vietnam and Czech Republic.
Speaking further about his goals for the upcoming tournament, the goalkeeper born in 1997 affirmed: "This time I will strive to improve both my skills and physical condition, following the training plans set by the coaching staff. I will try to perform my best to be able to compete in Thailand."
Regarding the Vietnamese national futsal team, recalling Ho Van Y shows head coach Diego Giustozzi's expectations for this goalkeeper's experience and caliber. If he meets the technical requirements and maintains fitness, Ho Van Y will be a crucial addition to the Vietnamese national futsal team's defense in the regional tournament.
