Coach Diego Giustozzi expressed his joy at goalkeeper Ho Van Y's recovery from injury and return to training with the Vietnam futsal national team ahead of the 2026 Southeast Asian Futsal Championship.
The return of goalkeeper Ho Van Y after a long period of treatment for injury brings positive signals for the Vietnam futsal team in preparation for the 2026 Southeast Asian Futsal Championship. With extensive playing experience and a crucial role in defense, Van Y is considered one of the team's key figures. Therefore, his timely recovery and reappearance in this training camp particularly pleased head coach Diego Giustozzi.
Speaking about his player, the Argentine strategist highly praised Ho Van Y's influence on the team. He believes the goalkeeper's return not only adds professional quality but also brings experience and match temperament to the entire squad.
Coach Diego Giustozzi shared: "Van Y is a leader, an experienced player with seasoned match temperament having played many international matches. I am very happy that he has recovered to return. Van Y's presence will definitely give the team another quality player."
Alongside welcoming the return of key players, the coaching staff of the Vietnam futsal national team continues to give opportunities to young players in this training camp. Some faces like Thac Hieu or Van Giau are called up to the national team to gradually provide exposure and accumulate experience at a higher level.
Regarding the direction of rejuvenating the squad, Coach Diego Giustozzi believes giving opportunities to young players is necessary to prepare for the long-term goals of Vietnamese futsal in the future. He emphasized: "We must give opportunities to young players. For example, Thac Hieu performed well wearing the national U19 jersey. We have about two years to prepare for the 2028 Asian Championship with the important goal of securing a World Cup ticket. Therefore, this is the right time for young players to gradually be tested and honed in the national team environment."
Looking back at the recent journey of the Vietnam futsal national team, Coach Diego Giustozzi also assessed that the players have made certain progress in professional level when facing strong opponents from the region and continent. According to the plan, the Vietnam futsal national team will continue training in Ho Chi Minh City before traveling to Thailand to participate in the 2026 Southeast Asian Futsal Championship, held from April 6 to 12, where Coach Giustozzi and his team will compete against Myanmar, Timor-Leste, and host Thailand in Group A.
