Đông Á Thanh Hóa Club has officially been cleared by FIFA of all bans on registering new players after completing financial obligations with relevant parties.
Previously, Thanh Hóa faced a total of 4 bans on registering new players from FIFA due to financial disputes with players. These penalties put the club in a difficult situation, especially as the domestic transfer window deadline approached.
According to updated data on FIFA's system on March 14, the first two bans have been lifted after Thanh Hóa Club completed payments of owed salaries to two involved players. These financial disputes had persisted for some time, forcing FIFA to impose bans on new player registrations for the V-League club.
After that, Thanh Hóa continued to resolve remaining financial obligations. Once all debts were fully settled, FIFA officially lifted the remaining bans, meaning the Thanh-based club is permitted to register new players again in the transfer market.
The lifting of the bans comes as Thanh Hóa raced against time to resolve the issues before the Vietnamese football player registration deadline. If not completed timely, the club risked playing with a very thin squad for the remainder of the season.
In reality, during this difficult period, Thanh Hóa faced the possibility of having only about 19 players for the next phase of V-League, including 3 goalkeepers. This would severely impact the club's competitiveness in the relegation battle.
The cause of Thanh Hóa Club's financial crisis stems from instability in the club's management. However, after conducting several player transfers recently, the Thanh-based club gained additional financial resources to settle outstanding obligations. These moves helped the club gradually remove FIFA's penalties.
On the field, Thanh Hóa continues striving to remain competitive despite squad challenges. After 16 rounds in V-League, the club has 13 points and temporarily ranks 12th out of 14, continuing a tense relegation fight.
