Former V-League scoring champion unexpectedly joins coach Park Hang Seo's team

Former V-League scoring champion Bruno Cunha Cantanhede officially joins Bac Ninh Club to compete in the National First Division 2025/2026.

Bac Ninh Club recently made headlines in the transfer market by officially recruiting Brazilian striker Bruno Cunha Cantanhede. The forward who once won the V-League scoring champion title will wear the Bac Ninh team jersey for the remainder of the V-League 2 2025/2026 season.

Bruno Cunha left a strong impression during his first stint in Vietnam when he played for Viettel FC in the 2019 season. The Brazilian striker scored 15 goals in just 14 matches, thereby winning the league's scoring champion title. This is considered one of the most impressive debut performances by a foreign player in the V-League.

In the 2020 season, Bruno Cunha continued to maintain stable form by scoring 8 goals, playing a crucial role in helping The Cong Viettel win the V-League championship. However, when he moved to wear the Hanoi FC jersey in the 2021 season, this striker could no longer maintain his previous scoring efficiency and only had 3 goals after 8 appearances.

After leaving Hanoi FC at the end of 2021, Bruno Cunha began his journey playing in various countries. He successively played for clubs in Indonesia and Qatar before returning to Vietnam in early 2023 to join Dong A Thanh Hoa FC. Here, the Brazilian striker scored 11 goals, contributing to helping the Thanh team finish in 4th place in V-League 2023 and win the Vietnam National Cup championship.

After a successful season with Thanh Hoa, Bruno Cunha reunited with Viettel in late 2023. However, his second stint playing for the military-themed team was not smooth as the striker encountered many injury issues and did not make significant contributions before leaving the team in October 2024.

After leaving Viettel, Bruno Cunha continued to try his luck in Thailand and India but did not leave much impact. Recently, the 32-year-old striker decided to return to Vietnam by reaching an agreement to join Bac Ninh Club. The team hopes that the experience, technique, and sharp finishing ability of the former V-League scoring champion will strengthen their attacking power in the race for the First Division in the 2025/2026 season.
