On April 10th afternoon, the last two quarter-final matches of the National U15 tournament – Modern Cup 2026 concluded with thrilling developments, confirming the remaining two names to join the semifinals: Hanoi I and The Cong Viettel I. Both representatives of the capital's youth football secured convincing victories, continuing to demonstrate superiority in both technical quality and competitive spirit.
On pitch number 1 at Thanh Long Center, Hanoi I entered the encounter with Quang Nam with their familiar proactive style. In just the 4th minute, the capital's youth team quickly broke the deadlock when Bao Trung effectively utilized a fast-paced combination to score the opening goal. The early advantage helped Hanoi I maintain a high attacking tempo, continuously pressuring the opponent's half.
Nevertheless, Quang Nam did not easily give up. In a rare situation, the Quang region team received a penalty in the 26th minute, and Huu Truong did not miss the opportunity to equalize 1-1. This goal somewhat balanced the match more in the remainder of the first half, as Hanoi I faced difficulties against the opponent's concentrated defense.
Moving into the second half, Hanoi I quickly re-established their dominance. In the 60th minute, from a corner situation, Gia Bao leaped high to head the ball, raising the score to 2-1, creating a turning point in the match. In the remaining quarter-final match, The Cong Viettel I faced SHB Da Nang and quickly displayed superior strength. From the opening minutes, the army-clad team proactively pushed their formation forward, continuously creating opportunities. After several threatening situations, in the 16th minute, Nhan Quyen opened the scoring following a combination on the right flank. The momentum of excitement helped The Cong Viettel I continue to increase pressure, and Dinh Dung scored to raise the score to 2-0 before the first half ended.
The second half witnessed a one-sided match as The Cong Viettel I completely controlled the game. Trung Hieu scored the third goal in the 49th minute, before Minh Duc sealed the 4-0 victory in the 75th minute. This result brought the army-clad team into the semifinals to face SLNA, simultaneously affirming their position as a top contender for the championship.
