$500 million! Argentina's player with the highest release clause emerges, "the new Messi" will land in Europe's top five leagues.

Earlier, Argentine journalist Ramita Boz reported that Almada's release clause is $500 million, making him the Argentine player with the highest release clause in the world currently. Previously, Brazilian club Botafogo announced that Argentine midfielder Almada has joined the team, signing until 2029. However, Almada's future certainly lies beyond the Brazilian league; this is merely his "transition station." According to earlier reports from Italian journalist Romano, Almada will play for Botafogo for six months, then join French club Lyon in January. His transfer plan is already confirmed, with Atlanta United receiving approximately €20 million in transfer fees.

For many Argentine fans, this is a long-awaited transfer. Almada demonstrated exceptional talent early on and has been dubbed "the new Messi." As early as 2020, media reports indicated interest from European giants, including Manchester City, Inter Milan, and Atletico Madrid, with Manchester United later joining the competition. Just as fans anticipated another Argentine superstar landing in European football, Almada chose MLS, joining Atlanta United for a transfer fee under €15 million.

This price certainly wouldn't have deterred European giants, but ultimately Atlanta United prevailed, and Almada's choice had its reasons. For Almada, choosing MLS wasn't about lacking ambition; he needed a substantial salary to improve his living conditions. During childhood, Almada lived in poor circumstances, with busy parents placing him in his grandparents' care. While playing football, he had to sell vegetables and milk to earn a modest income. Growing up in poverty made Almada prioritize higher wages, and compared to the Argentine league, MLS clubs undoubtedly offered better compensation.

In MLS, Almada quickly delivered outstanding performances. Last season, he played 35 matches for Atlanta United, all as a starter, scoring 13 goals and providing 16 assists. Clearly, MLS could no longer satisfy Almada's development. To elevate his career to the next level, he must join a higher-level league and face more advanced competition.

The French league is undoubtedly an ideal stage for South American players entering Europe, with many who later join top clubs using it as a transition platform. Almada can play multiple positions in the forward line, renowned for excellent dribbling skills, speed, and explosive power, capable of deftly breaking through defenses in tight spaces. His ball control allows him to maintain balance and rhythm even against multiple defenders, with very refined footwork enabling him to skillfully use feints and fancy moves to deceive opponents.

Additionally, Almada possesses outstanding speed and agility, enabling rapid advances, especially effective in counterattacks. Moreover, his change-of-direction ability is strong, allowing quick escapes from defenders. Almada also has considerable scoring ability. His long-range shooting and set-piece skills are quite good, often capable of scoring directly through individual prowess.

Almada is only 23 years old; if he fully displays his abilities and continues to fulfill his potential in the French league, joining a top club will be a natural progression. With players like Messi and Di María gradually aging, the Argentine national team also needs fresh energy in the attack. Let's collectively anticipate the performance of this "new Messi."
