The roster for the Vietnam U19 team's assembly ahead of the 2026 Southeast Asian Championship is slowly emerging, featuring the initial 9 players selected from SLNA and The Cong Viettel.
Accordingly, the second assembly period for the Vietnam U19 team in 2026 will take place from April 27 to June 15 at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center. This is a crucial phase in the preparation process, before the team embarks on an extended training camp lasting nearly two months in Japan aiming towards the goal of conquering the U19 Southeast Asian Championship.
Notably, SLNA reaffirms its status as one of the country's leading youth training hubs, with as many as 6 players and 1 coach being summoned. Specifically, head coach Nguyen Hong Viet along with players Nguyen Bao Ngoc, Nguyen Tan Minh, Le Tan Dung, and Hoang Minh Hoi are the names directly called up. These are all key contributors who played a major role in helping SLNA U19 clinch the 2026 National U19 Championship title.
Additionally, two other SLNA players, Tran Quoc Hoa and Bach Trong Duong, are also included in the list, despite currently playing on loan at Quang Ngai Club. However, their availability for the assembly remains uncertain as their parent club might retain them to serve competition objectives in the National Second Division.
Besides SLNA, the training academy The Cong Viettel also contributes 3 players including Nguyen Hoang Nam, Hoang Van Thai, and Hoang Cong Hau, thereby confirming the first 9 faces of the Vietnam U19 team.
Having 6 players from SLNA not only reflects the quality of youth development at the Nghe-based club, but also demonstrates a strong succession following their National U19 Championship victory. This will be a significant opportunity for the young players to prove themselves in the national team jersey, while gaining experience in a higher-level competitive environment.
With a squad rich in potential and a well-structured preparation plan, the Vietnam U19 team is steadily progressing towards the goal of competing for the regional championship title, while laying the groundwork for broader ambitions on the continental stage in the future.
