In a recent exchange with VnExpress, Coach Kim Sang-sik shared many perspectives on the playing mentality of Vietnamese footballers. The Korean tactician assessed that his students always strive hard and possess a strong desire to win, but for more sustainable development, they need to build a clearer sense of professionalism in competition.

One issue he particularly emphasized is the habit of time-wasting on the pitch. According to Coach Kim Sang-sik, many players still prioritize immediate results without truly focusing on the spectators' experience. He hopes matches in Vietnam will proceed with a faster pace, more dedication, and minimize situations of deliberately slowing down the game.

This strategist cited Korean football as a typical example. He believes Korean players always enter the field with a spirit of serving the fans, delivering the most exciting matches possible. When collisions occur, they try to get up very quickly so the match isn't interrupted, maintaining a high tempo and excitement for the viewers in the stands.

According to him, this is a crucial factor helping football attract increasingly larger crowds to the stadiums. If players only focus on winning and forget the responsibility of creating match excitement, fans will gradually lose interest. That's why he wants Vietnamese players to change their mindset, playing not just for points but also for the long-term development of the nation's football.

Nevertheless, Coach Kim Sang-sik still highly appreciates the fighting spirit of Vietnamese players. He affirmed that both Korean and Vietnamese players always enter the field with great determination, ready to sacrifice for the team and fight wholeheartedly for their teammates. The main difference lies in how professionalism is maintained in every small action on the pitch.

Previously, in an interview with Sport Seoul newspaper, he also strongly mentioned this issue. The coach born in 1976 stated that many players after falling often stay down too long, needing pain spray or drinking water before continuing play. He demanded the elimination of this habit, significantly increasing actual playing time and thereby improving fitness as well as extending players' competitive longevity.
