Coach Harry Kewell is satisfied with Hanoi FC's victory but admits the team missed many opportunities, while emphasizing that the whole team must improve to maintain form.
Coach Harry Kewell expressed satisfaction after Hanoi FC's 4-2 victory over Becamex TP.HCM, but also frankly pointed out many issues needing improvement.
Speaking after the match, the former Australian star emphasized: “The most important thing is that we won and got 3 points. This match was very exciting for the fans, but we could have finished the opponent earlier.”
According to Coach Kewell, Hanoi FC created many clear opportunities, but finishing ability was not truly effective. He admitted the team had moments of inaccurate play: “There were periods where we played quite sloppily, but the positive thing is the whole team quickly regrouped and utilized key moments well to score.”
Evaluating the opponent, Kewell showed great respect for Becamex TP.HCM: “They are a good team, with a clear system and work very hard. The hardest thing in football is tracking players moving without the ball, and today we did that quite well.”
The Australian strategist also shared his football philosophy, emphasizing balance between beautiful play and effectiveness: “I always want the team to play proper football, building from the back, attacking through lines and creating opportunities. But football requires adaptation. Today the players did that well.”
Additionally, Kewell particularly emphasized the physical factor: “I always tell the players that to win, you must run more than the opponent. If you do that, you already have half the chance to win the match.”
Speaking about the performance of the attack, he surprisingly gave high praise to the opponent's goalkeeper Trần Minh Toàn: “We had many opportunities from close range but were all blocked. In my opinion, Becamex TP.HCM's goalkeeper was the best player of the match.”
Despite winning, Kewell clearly still has many adjustments to make if Hanoi FC wants to maintain stable form in the upcoming journey.
