The head coach of the Thailand U17 national team announced his resignation right after the 2-3 defeat against Laos U17.
This loss resulted in Thailand U17 finishing the group stage in third place in Group B, failing to secure a spot in the semifinals. Despite twice taking the lead, the "Young War Elephants" still allowed their opponents to stage a comeback in the second half, thereby suffering a deeply regrettable defeat.
Speaking after the match, Coach Sirisak candidly took responsibility and apologized to the fans: “First, I want to apologize to all Thai football fans for the performance of the Thailand U17 national team in this Southeast Asian Championship. I must admit that the performance was not as expected, and I want to thank everyone who supported the young athletes throughout the tournament.”
Notably, this tactician also thanked the Football Association of Thailand and declared his departure from the head coach position: “Thank you to the Football Association of Thailand for giving me the opportunity to undertake this duty. Now, I believe the mission has been successfully completed. I wish to conclude my role as head coach of the Thailand U17 national team at this tournament.”
Additionally, Coach Sirisak stated that he would hand over data on the young players from the talent selection program for their continued development in the future: “Afterwards, information on the young players selected from the Talent Search project will be transferred to the technical department of the association, where it is believed many of them have potential and wish to receive further support.”
Closing the press conference, he still expressed confidence in the next generation of players and called for continued support from the fans: “Finally, I want to urge all football fans to continue supporting the young athletes. I believe everyone still has a future and can continue to develop. Thank you.”
