U17 Vietnam has demonstrated outstanding form at the 2026 U17 Southeast Asia tournament, yet the home team U17 Indonesia is resolved not to retreat.
U17 Indonesia will face Vietnam in the final match of Group A in the 2026 U17 Southeast Asia tournament. Although U17 Vietnam has performed exceptionally well in the first two group matches, the host players are instructed not to waver.
U17 Indonesia's results in Group A have not been entirely convincing. After two matches, coach Kurniawan Dwi Yulianto's team secured one win and suffered one loss.

Coach Cristiano Roland is confident that U17 Vietnam will earn points against Indonesia.
In their opening match, U17 Indonesia secured a heavy victory over Timor Leste with a score of 4-0. However, in the second match, U17 Indonesia suffered a 0-1 defeat against Malaysia.
Meanwhile, U17 Vietnam has displayed impressive form by winning both matches: 4-0 against Malaysia and 10-0 against Timor Leste.
This result solidifies U17 Vietnam's position at the top of Group A with 6 points, while U17 Indonesia ranks third with 3 points, trailing Malaysia in second place based on head-to-head performance.
In the final Group A match taking place at Gelora Delta Stadium, Sidoarjo tonight (April 19), the two teams will clash in a decisive encounter. This is a crucial showdown for both sides in the race to secure a semifinal spot.
According to the format, only the top three teams from Groups A, B, C and the best-performing runner-up team will advance to the semifinals.
Considering the current situation, U17 Vietnam holds a significant advantage as only a draw is sufficient to proceed. Meanwhile, U17 Indonesia must secure a victory to qualify for the knockout stage.
However, Indonesia's outcome also depends on the match between Malaysia and Timor Leste occurring on the same day. If Malaysia wins, a scenario could arise where three teams—Indonesia, Vietnam, and Malaysia—each have 6 points. In that case, rankings would be determined by a mini-table, considering only the head-to-head results among these three teams.

The host team U17 Indonesia no longer has full control over its fate.
Coach Kurniawan Dwi Yulianto acknowledges that U17 Vietnam is a very strong team. Nevertheless, he demands that his players not be afraid and must aim for victory.
"We understand Vietnam has shown exceptionally superior performance in the previous two matches. But in football, nothing is impossible.
The most important thing is the players' mentality; they must not lose before stepping onto the field. We always emphasize the need to believe in the team's strength, but also must not be complacent.
Most importantly, the players must avoid basic mistakes, especially in defense. We hope they will maintain focus throughout the 90 minutes," he stressed.
