Carrick's potential permanent appointment owes credit to Amorim! Portuguese media claims he laid Manchester United's foundation, selling Garnacho a major achievement.

Following Manchester United's 1-0 win against Chelsea, Carrick has reestablished himself as the leading contender for the official manager position next season. This proves the club's move to sack Rúben Amorim in January was justified. Yet, Portuguese outlets stand by Amorim, contending that numerous of his choices were correct, though largely ignored.

Fans might focus most on Amorim's stubborn adherence to the 3-4-3 formation, in contrast to the immediate changes Carrick brought after taking charge, steering the team back into the top four. Amorim's record was 24 wins, 18 draws, and 12 losses, while Carrick won 8 out of 12 matches, clearly showing better results.

But Portugal's "O Jogo" reports that Manchester United's current success is partly due to groundwork done by Amorim. Amorim's main contributions weren't tactical; his managerial decisions have proven mostly correct. "The Portuguese coach's future remains closely linked to England, which is natural," "O Jogo" commented. "Time will show that many decisions Amorim made at Manchester United were right."

Portuguese media states Amorim may have made some mistakes, including his power-grab attempt before dismissal. Yet the Manchester United board also shares blame, as they knew such a situation would arise when appointing Amorim. However, Amorim's benching of Rashford and Garnacho—once untouchable academy "princes"—is considered reasonable.

In the Manchester United vs. Chelsea match, Garnacho's performance after coming on as a substitute, compared to summer signing Cunha who scored the winning goal, indeed proves Carrick should thank Amorim for some "legacy" left behind. The UK's "Manchester Evening News" reports that after beating Chelsea, Carrick found reasons to appreciate Amorim.

One of Amorim's successes at Manchester United was decisively phasing out underperforming players, including Garnacho. In last season's Manchester derby, Amorim dropped Garnacho and Rashford, and in the summer directly told Garnacho he must leave.

Although Manchester United fans once thrilled at Garnacho's talent, and some felt selling him for £40 million was too cheap, they now surely support Amorim's decision. Currently, Garnacho's value falls below £40 million; his inefficiency in both attack and defense against Manchester United made him a "contributor" to his former club's victory.

When Garnacho warmed up on the sidelines, Manchester United away fans at Stamford Bridge bluntly sang mocking chants. "Who's that shit from Argentina? Who's that money-grubbing little bastard?" they shouted together.

After Amorim ruthlessly cleared out the "five rats" in the dressing room, Carrick inherited a much more harmonious atmosphere, enabling the whole team to move in one direction. This was a night Manchester United might thank the former manager; reviewing Amorim's tenure, it's easy to think he completely failed, but actually, those 14 months weren't entirely worthless.

Breaking before building, Amorim dismantled old powers at Old Trafford, now it's time to establish a new era. Portuguese media reminds Manchester United: Watching the Reds' matches, we realize that, like many clubs, merely changing the coach is only a superficial fix, unable to address the root causes of problems.
