Real Madrid receives shocking news, making it extremely difficult to stop Barcelona from clinching the La Liga title.

Barcelona has just lost their number one star Lamine Yamal until the end of the season, yet Real Madrid remains very hard-pressed to stop their long-standing rival from securing the La Liga championship.

Real Madrid is suffering a major squad shock as two key players, Éder Militão and Arda Güler, have been ruled out for the rest of the season. Both have been diagnosed with grade two hamstring tears, plunging coach Alvaro Arbeloa into a personnel crisis in the defensive line during the final stretch of the campaign.

The hopes for a late-season surge by the Spanish Royal club have been severely dashed after medical tests on Thursday confirmed that Militão and Güler will miss the remainder of the 2025–26 domestic campaign.

The diagnosis indicates both have suffered grade two hamstring tears, with an expected recovery period of three to four weeks. This means they are almost certain to be unavailable during the decisive final phase of the season.

Arda Guler forced to miss the remainder of the season due to injury

The timing of the injuries is considered "disastrous" for Los Blancos. Militão had to leave the pitch during Tuesday's match against Deportivo Alavés, while Güler's absence from Thursday's training session initially raised concerns before scan results confirmed the severity.

The club's official announcement stated: "Following tests conducted today on Arda Güler by the Real Madrid medical department, the player has been diagnosed with an injury to the right hamstring muscle. His condition will continue to be monitored."

Meanwhile, the Madrid capital club also updated Militão's status: "After tests today, Éder Militão has been diagnosed with an injury to the left hamstring muscle. Further developments await." This information further increases concerns about Real Madrid's squad depth at this critical stage.

According to reports from the sports daily Diario AS, the club's medical department is adopting a cautious approach in the recovery process for both players. With the FIFA World Cup approaching in the coming weeks, Real Madrid does not want to risk accelerating their return and potentially causing a recurrence of the injuries in the final two weeks of the La Liga season.

Instead, the current priority is to ensure the Brazilian defender and the Turkish attacking midfielder reach 100% fitness for their national team duties in the summer. Both will begin a structured rehabilitation program at the Valdebebas training center aiming for optimal condition ahead of the next season.

The absence of Militão and Güler presents a major challenge for Real Madrid in the title race, as they trail league leaders Barcelona by nine points. With multiple key players injured simultaneously, the Madrid club's management may have to reassess squad depth and transfer strategy ahead of the summer window to avoid repeating a similar crisis. Immediately, the away trip to Real Betis's stadium on Friday evening in Seville is predicted to become significantly more difficult following the latest medical updates.
