According to Sky Sports Germany, English winger Jadon Sancho has agreed to play for Borussia Dortmund again this summer. Transfer expert Florian Plettenberg confirmed that Sancho's name has reappeared in discussions among Dortmund's top management for weeks, and he has expressed willingness to wear the "Yellow and Black" jersey for the third time.

The 26-year-old Sancho is currently loaned by Manchester United to Aston Villa, his contract expires this summer, but he will not return to Old Trafford. Manchester United still holds a one-year priority renewal option, however, the club has promised Sancho's agent that it will not activate this option, allowing the player to transfer freely. Therefore, Dortmund can sign Sancho for free.
If Manchester United uses the renewal clause, they might have a chance to recover a small portion of the original €80 million (£73 million) transfer fee. However, doing so more likely would result in Sancho being unsellable, forcing the club to continue paying his £250,000 weekly salary. The Red Devils are almost certain to return to the Champions League next season, and player incomes will return to the highest level.
Thus, Sir Jim Ratcliffe's INEOS management team chose to "cut losses," completely ending ties with Sancho. Sky Sports Germany reported that Dortmund has negotiated with Sancho, discussing specific details, and the Bundesliga club already possesses all information about Sancho.
Sancho clearly stated that he indeed wants to play for Dortmund again, and now the decision lies with the Germans. Sporting director Ole Bruck and head of sports affairs Lars Ricken will decide whether to complete this signing. Dortmund coach Niko Kovac has agreed to accept Sancho, allowing this "lost child" to return to the team.
This season at Villa, Sancho played 33 matches, scoring only 1 goal with 3 assists. However, his two spells at Dortmund were quite successful, especially the first one, where he contributed 114 goals in 137 games. Now, despite receiving many invitations from around the world, Sancho hopes to rediscover his happiness in Germany.
Earlier this month, Dortmund's legendary figure Lars Ricken confirmed that the club is considering signing Sancho in the summer transfer window. "We are currently examining and evaluating many players. We judge whether these players can help the team become stronger, and for Jadon (Sancho), we are doing the same," Ricken told Bild. "Of course, we are looking for an attacking player who can immediately help us, with excellent ability and a reasonable transfer fee."

Sancho is one of several players Manchester United decided to offload this summer, and his departure is settled. However, the futures of two other teammates remain uncertain, including Sancho's friend Marcus Rashford and Cameroon goalkeeper André Onana, who were also loaned out this season.
Onana, at Turkish club Trabzonspor, became a hero this week, saving three penalties in the Turkish Cup quarter-final shootout to help his team advance to the semi-finals. Trabzonspor and Samsunspor drew 0-0 after 120 minutes, and the 30-year-old Onana then allowed only one goal from four penalty takers in the shootout.
Now, Trabzonspor will face Gençlerbirliği in the semi-finals, keeping hopes for a trophy this season. Club president Ertuğrul Doğan said after the match: "If conditions are suitable, we hope he can stay. The final decision lies with Onana himself."
Onana has two years left on his contract, with a weekly wage of £120,000. The player himself hopes to return to Manchester United this summer to compete with Sena Ramens for the starting position. However, Manchester United has no plans for Onana's return, as they aim to reduce salary expenses. Keeping a high-earning goalkeeper on the bench is also unrealistic.
Onana's agent is expected to meet with Manchester United executives after the season ends to discuss his future, with a transfer or another loan seeming the most likely outcomes. Manchester United hopes to recover as much as possible of the £47.2 million transfer fee paid to Inter Milan in the summer 2023 window, but that is almost impossible.
Meanwhile, Rashford at Barcelona has gained an opportunity to prove he deserves to stay, as the team's main wingers Yamal and Raphinha are injured simultaneously. The 28-year-old United star started the season strongly but faded recently, and Barcelona's interest in buying him for €30 million has weakened. After Raphinha's injury in March, Rashford failed to prove himself, and now he has the final six games to make his case.

He hopes to regain the form he had early in the season, where from September to November, in 13 matches, his combined goals and assists reached 15. Rashford is almost certain to win his first league championship, but he needs better individual performances to continue his childhood dream of playing for Barcelona.
