Vietnam U17 not only clinched the Southeast Asian title but also nearly claimed all individual honors, with Chu Ngoc Nguyen Luc and Ly Xuan Hoa recognized as outstanding performers.
Vietnam U17 concluded their journey at the 2026 Southeast Asia U17 Championship by securing their fourth historic title after a 3-0 victory over Malaysia U17, while also "almost" dominating the tournament's individual awards. This impressive series of achievements helped Coach Cristiano Roland's team reaffirm their top regional status at the youth level, showcasing comprehensive performance both collectively and individually.
At Gelora Delta Stadium (Indonesia), Vietnam U17 started confidently and quickly demonstrated superiority. In the 11th minute, Dao Quy Vuong capitalized on a corner kick situation to open the scoring, creating a favorable psychological momentum for the red-shirted team. Before the first half ended, Nguyen Van Duong shone with a skillful play in the 45+4th minute, helping Vietnam U17 lead 2-0 after the initial 45 minutes.
In the second half, the match continued to favor Vietnam U17. In the 54th minute, Van Duong completed a double after a precise finishing shot, sealing a convincing 3-0 victory. Malaysia U17 hardly created significant pressure, while Coach Cristiano Roland's team completely controlled the pace of the match.
Not only winning the championship, Vietnam U17 also demonstrated superiority as their standout individuals were all honored. Midfielder Chu Ngoc Nguyen Luc was voted the tournament's Best Player due to his conductor role, contributing significantly to gameplay coordination and creating breakthroughs in the midfield.
In the defensive line, goalkeeper Ly Xuan Hoa was awarded the Best Goalkeeper title after conceding only one goal throughout the tournament. His stability and crucial saves provided the foundation for Vietnam U17 to maintain an impressive defensive record.
Meanwhile, the Golden Boot award belonged to Georgio Hassarati (Australia U17) with 10 goals. However, this individual excellence could not help Australia advance further against the superior collective strength of Vietnam U17, a team showing balance between tactical effectiveness and personnel quality.
Achieving both the championship title and multiple individual honors indicates that Vietnam U17 possesses a generation full of potential. Under the guidance of Coach Cristiano Roland, the team not only succeeded in results but also established a sustainable development foundation for the future of Vietnamese youth football.
