Manchester United eager to sell Rashford quickly! Barcelona's reluctance to buy is not a bargaining tactic, but genuine dissatisfaction with Rashford.

According to British media "Football Insider," Manchester United hopes to sell the 28-year-old English star Marcus Rashford as soon as possible, to avoid paying his high weekly wages after returning to the Champions League. Unfortunately, after reaching a personal agreement with Barcelona, Rashford's performance has been underwhelming, putting his Camp Nou dream at risk of an early end.

After joining Barcelona on loan, Rashford initially performed well, achieving double-digit goals and assists in the latter half of last year. However, after agreeing to personal terms with Barcelona, the English winger, as often happens, became complacent. His performance declined, his running intensity worsened, and Barcelona fans grew dissatisfied with him, similar to past Manchester United supporters.

Barcelona coach Hansi Flick still supports Rashford, but his trust has also diminished. Even with injuries to Lamine Yamal and Raphinha, Rashford did not start. Barcelona hopes Manchester United will lower Rashford's asking price, but the Red Devils refuse, insisting on €30 million. Therefore, Barcelona's plan to buy Rashford is increasingly likely to be shelved.

Manchester United correspondent Andy Mitten confirmed that Barcelona's reluctance to sign Rashford is not a bargaining strategy but a genuine stance. "This is not a negotiation tactic; it's a real fact. In the month when he needed to perform best, it turned out to be his worst month. I have been communicating with Barcelona insiders for a long time, and I sense their appreciation for Rashford is declining."

Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano added: "Regarding Rashford, as I understand, Barcelona currently insists on renegotiating the loan contract; while Manchester United emphasizes that either the player is bought for the €30 million buyout clause, or he returns to Manchester United, where the club will then evaluate the best solution for him—direct sale to another club or any other option. So, Barcelona is also considering other targets."

On Saturday, Rashford scored his 12th goal of the season, helping Barcelona move closer to the La Liga title, which would also be his first La Liga championship. However, his reputation at Barcelona has changed. Spanish media reports that Barcelona now does not want him; he is considered dispensable. The club that loaned him last year and gave him regular playing opportunities has now altered its view.

Rashford's statistics appear good, averaging a goal contribution every 92 minutes, higher than Raphinha and Mbappé (96 minutes), Yamal (102 minutes), and Vinícius (143 minutes). When he first joined Barcelona, he followed instructions, ran actively, created chances, and scored. At the same time, he adapted to a new language, new culture, and new locker room system.

Rashford is the best-performing English player in La Liga in his first season, so Flick values him considerably. Rashford brings a different element compared to more technically skilled teammates, utilizing his speed and English-style play.

However, financial considerations may be more important for Barcelona. Rashford's agent camp's reaction is disappointment and sadness, rather than panic. They also know negotiations require process, and current rumors do not represent the final outcome. Their message to Rashford himself is: stay patient. This is normal; issues will be resolved.

Rashford's income if he stays at Barcelona would be lower than returning to Manchester United, but he hopes to continue playing at Camp Nou. Barcelona will sign two forwards in the summer window; Atlético Madrid's Álvarez is the primary target, but the €120 million price tag exceeds their capability. The other forward type Barcelona wants is someone more aggressive off the ball, pressing actively and linking attacks in tight spaces—clearly not Rashford's style.

Rashford's agents believe nothing is finalized yet; there is room for negotiation, and Flick's evaluation of Rashford remains positive. Regarding Tottenham Hotspur's reported interest this week, it is purely a tool to raise the price. Tottenham's likelihood of relegation is significantly higher than their chance of signing Rashford.

Tottenham's current top earners, Harvey Simmons and Christian Romero, have weekly wages of £195,000, which is £130,000 less than Rashford's weekly income at Manchester United. Next season, even if Tottenham stays in the Premier League, they will have no European qualification and cannot afford such high salaries.
