Manchester United has reached an agreement with Atalanta for Ederson's transfer, but the deal is not expected to be finalized until early July. However, the delay is not due to United's slow action; German Sky Sports reports that there are still some "organizational details" to be resolved.

Transfer expert Florian Plettenberg stated that all agreements have been reached, and only a few organizational details remain to be handled. Therefore, Manchester United is expected to fully complete the transaction by July. The so-called "organizational details" reportedly include calculations for the International Transfer Certificate, training compensation, and solidarity contributions.
According to The Sun, the main obstacle is FIFA's International Transfer Certificate (ITC). This is an overseas transfer, and Italy's transfer system, along with the International Transfer Matching System, will not process his registration with the English FA until the international standard date of July 1.
Ederson also needs to apply for a UK visa, but these are procedural matters. Manchester United had already targeted Ederson in the 2024/25 season, and his acquisition is now essentially confirmed. Fans may still need to wait patiently for the official unveiling of the 26-year-old Brazilian newcomer, but all necessary agreements have been reached, and the transfer will certainly go through.
Meanwhile, Manchester United hopes to sell Uruguayan defensive midfielder Manuel Ugarte this summer, who has consistently underperformed since joining two years ago.
According to the BBC, if the Uruguayan international stays at the club, it would be a "shocking" outcome. Ugarte has not played since the Red Devils' home defeat to Leeds United in April, and he may have already played his last match for the club.

If Manchester United sells Ugarte, they will bring in three new midfielders during the summer window, with Ederson being just the first. Carrick will also receive two new signings, though they may not include 23-year-old English player Hayden Hackney, whom he previously coached at Middlesbrough.
Over the past few days, Hackney has been linked with several Premier League clubs, including Manchester United. However, according to The Athletic, although United also appreciates Hackney, he is not the top target on their midfield shortlist. Current indications suggest Hackney may move to Everton, where he would have a better chance of securing a starting role under David Moyes.
If they manage to sign three new recruits, plus a contract extension for Kobbie Mainoo, Manchester United will have four defensive midfielders for the new season. This is largely sufficient, but may be slightly lacking. Carrick will have to look internally for reinforcements, with the BBC suggesting that two academy players might be called up.
These include Taylor Fletcher, a 19-year-old Scottish midfielder who was given his first-team debut by Carrick this season and has also been called up to the national team for the World Cup. Another candidate is Jacob Devaney, aged 18, who impressed during a loan spell at Scottish Premiership club St Mirren in the second half of the season.
In Manchester United's first team, 21-year-old academy midfielder Mainoo was initially at risk of being offloaded by Ruben Amorim, having made zero Premier League starts in the first half of the season. Fortunately, Carrick's arrival changed his fortune. Mainoo has since reclaimed a starting spot, secured a pay rise and contract extension, and returned to the England national team, where he will participate in the World Cup.

Mainoo thanked Carrick at England's Florida training base: "We are very satisfied. Obviously, everyone has supported the manager from the start. Under his leadership, Manchester United has achieved many great results, and I really like the way he manages and coaches me within the team. I think everyone in the squad would agree that when he got the permanent job, we were all very happy. I told him I am very grateful, because if he hadn't given me playing time, I wouldn't be standing here, so I will always be thankful to him."
