U19 Indonesia's confidence grows after defeating U19 Vietnam to reach the Southeast Asian semi-finals.

U19 Indonesia earned their place in the 2026 ASEAN U19 Championship semi-finals by overcoming U19 Vietnam.

The host team defeated U19 Vietnam 2-1 in the final Group A match, held at the Stadion Utama Sumatra Utara (Deli Serdang) on the evening of June 7.

U19 Indonesia opened the scoring in the 22nd minute through Reno Salampessy. In the 74th minute, U19 Vietnam leveled the match when Nguyen Quoc Khanh headed in an equalizer.

Just as the game seemed destined for a draw, U19 Indonesia were awarded a penalty in stoppage time. Evandra Florasta converted successfully, securing a 2-1 victory for the home side.

This result means U19 Indonesia won all three group stage matches, topping Group A with a perfect 9 points. Meanwhile, U19 Vietnam finished second with 6 points and must wait for a chance to advance as one of the best runners-up.

In the semi-finals, U19 Indonesia will face the winner of Group C or the best second-place team from Group B.

Currently, U19 Australia leads Group C, while the runner-up spot in Group B belongs to U19 Malaysia, who are level on points with group leaders U19 Thailand.

The 2026 ASEAN U19 Championship features 11 teams divided into three groups. The three group winners and the best runner-up will advance to the semi-finals.

For U19 Indonesia, the victory over U19 Vietnam highlights the team's positive progress throughout the tournament.
