OFFICIAL: VAR makes its debut in Vietnam's Second Division.

The VAR system will be implemented during the Second Division finals to identify the three clubs that secure promotion to the First Division.

After the qualifying round, four teams have qualified to participate in the 2026 National Second Division Football Finals , namely Hanoi Youth and Hue (Group A), Lam Dong and Truong Giang Gia Dinh (Group B). According to the competition regulations, the teams will compete in a knockout format to decide the three clubs that will be promoted to the National First Division for the 2026/27 season.

In addition, the qualifiers also determined the two teams that must be relegated to the National Third Division for the 2027 season: Tre Phu Dong and Mekong Can Tho. These are the bottom teams of Group A and Group B when the qualifiers ended, with 8 and 6 points respectively.

According to the schedule, the 2026 National Second Division Finals will take place from June 13 to June 16 at Quy Nhon Stadium (Gia Lai). The two matches on June 13 are: Hanoi Youth vs Truong Giang Gia Dinh, and Lam Dong vs Hue. The winning teams will secure promotion, while the losing teams will play in the final promotion play-off on June 16.

According to an announcement from the organizing committee, starting from the finals, the Second Division will feature VAR to ensure the highest level of fairness for the matches.

Earlier on the afternoon of June 7, the matches of round 14 – the final round of the qualifiers for the 2026 National Second Division – took place simultaneously in both Groups A and B, thereby determining all four teams that qualified for the Finals to compete for three promotion spots to the National First Division for the 2026/27 season.

The highlight of the final round was the clash between Quang Ngai and Truong Giang Gia Dinh at Quang Ngai Stadium. Before the match, both teams had 21 points and were directly competing for the remaining spot in Group B for the Finals. Meanwhile, Lam Dong had already secured qualification from the previous round. The match ended in a 1-1 draw, a result sufficient for Truong Giang Gia Dinh to maintain second place in Group B and claim the last ticket to the Finals.
