Apply VAR to all matches in the 2026 National Second Division Finals

VAR technology will be deployed in all three matches of the 2026 National Second Division Finals to guarantee precise and fair match management.

According to the schedule, the 2026 National Second Division Finals will take place from June 13 to 16 at Quy Nhon Stadium (Gia Lai), featuring four outstanding teams that advanced through the qualifying round: Hanoi Youth, Hue, Lam Dong, and Truong Giang Gia Dinh. This decisive phase will determine three promotion slots to the National First Division for the 2026/27 season.

To enhance officiating quality and minimize errors that could affect match outcomes, the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) has decided to implement VAR technology in all three finals matches. This marks the second time VAR has been used in the National Second Division, following its debut in the 2024 finals.

This decision further reaffirms VFF's efforts to improve the organization and management of national football tournaments, not only in the professional league system but also in semi-professional and youth competitions.

To deploy VAR in the 2026 National Second Division Finals, VFF has received coordination and support from the Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company (VPF) and FPT Television Limited Company (FPT Play). Based on experience in organizing and operating VAR in national professional football leagues over recent years, relevant parties have developed a plan suited to the tournament's conditions.

Accordingly, the VAR system will be operated with technical standards equivalent to V.League 1 matches, featuring at least eight cameras, including wide-angle, close-up, two offside cameras, two behind-the-goal cameras, and various supporting angles to assist the VAR referee team in analyzing and evaluating situations.

To ensure teams understand the VAR operation process and related protocols, the tournament organizers will hold a professional briefing on the afternoon of June 12 in Quy Nhon, attended by coaching staff, team captains, and player representatives from the participating finals teams.

According to the schedule, the first semifinal between Hanoi Youth and Truong Giang Gia Dinh will kick off at 4:00 PM on June 13. The other semifinal between Lam Dong and Hue will take place at 7:00 PM on the same day. The two winning teams will share the championship and officially secure promotion to the National First Division for the 2026/27 season, while the two losing teams will face each other on June 16 to compete for the remaining promotion spot.

All three matches of the 2026 National Second Division Finals will be broadcast live on VFF and FPT Play media platforms, serving a wide audience of fans across the country.
